An Afternoon at the Local Coffeeshop

What’s the greatest thing about my favorite coffeeshop? …Just hangin’ and tea drinking and jammin’ with owner/barista Bridget and reading and people watching and tarot journaling

The Edgar Allan Poe table

…Or maybe how every table in the establishment is covered with flowing script design that morphs into a prtrait of a different literary icon. I’m partial to sitting at the Virginia Woolf table towards the back, but sometimes I gives the people a treat and sit near the front window… at the EDGAR ALLAN POE table…

Hmmm… What’s that I’m reading there?? Some sort of metaphysical, New Age vanity publication??

Texts That Create a Future book

Nope.  It’s an essay by Reimund Bieringer, a professor of New Testament Theology at the Catholic University of Leuven [Belgium], where he has served as vice dean of the Theology Faculty since 2008. The full title of his essay is “Texts That Create a Future: The Function of Ancient Texts for Theology Today” which can be found in the book Reading Patristic Texts on Social Ethics: Issues and Challenges for Twentieth-First-Century Christian Social Thought (The Catholic University of America Press, 2011).

Reading Patristic Texts on Social Ethics book

…Can we say “fascinating?” Um…YES!!!  You can expect a book report later. Meanwhile, I’m gonna keep journaling and enjoying the street art views from the café…

postscript… sometimes if you’re lucky, your coffee gets served with some wisdom snark…
